Clock Repair

I am very grateful to have been taught the trade of repairing clocks. The satisfaction I receive knowing I've done my best in preserving these fine examples of early clockmaking can not be described here. Resurrecting lost pieces of history from the attics of time has brought me great joy over the past 20 years of clock repairing.

If you have a clock that needs a little more attention than you are capable of providing, such as a good cleaning, bushing of pivots, or just a general overhaul of the case and movement, contact us for arrangements on how to get the clock here. You too can feel the pride of saving a piece of history for future generations to enjoy.

Due to the uncertainty of how clocks are setup after being mailed, I am no longer shipping completed clock repair jobs. You may send me the clock to be repaired, but will have to arrange to pick the clock up in person. If you need to find a clock repairman in your area try posting your request on the NAWCC Message Board.

Key Benefits

[Bullet] Over 20 years repairing clocks in the same location.
[Bullet] Stand behind all repairs done with a 1 year guarantee.
[Bullet] Believe all repairs should not alter from the original design of the clock movement.

In 1977 while working as an apprentice to the largest Antique Clock Dealer in New England, I first started learning the trade of Antique Clock Repair. I still continue to do all of his clock repair and restoration services. Through the 1980's I was restoring thousands of clocks per year, many one-of-kind and of the most rare variety. This experience has given me the ability to work with confidence on clocks that the average clock repairman has never seen before. Also due to my membership with the NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors) a vast amount of research knowledge has been provided to me by its members and its large lending library. I annually attend the many meetings, marts, and workshops which are offered nationwide. I can confidently restore a clock to what it originally was, correcting the many changes the clock may have had done to it, sometimes over a 300 year span.

I service and maintain many of the clocks found on the campus of Dartmouth College, The Woodstock Inn, all of the clocks at the Billings Farm & Museum, also many years ago Phil Farrington called me in to restore the clocks at the Dana House here in Woodstock. As you go into the many public buildings, banks, bread & breakfasts, libraries, churches, schools, restaurants, and most all the antique shops found in the central Vermont area you will find the clocks I have accurately restored. Take the time to ask the proprietor, "was this clock was restored by Taylor Time of Woodstock, Vermont?"

For 10 years, my wife Nancy owned and operated the Good Time Clock Shoppe at three different locations. The Bridgewater Mall, Central Street Woodstock, then before she retired to become a full-time mother of our 2 sons, Seth and Jameson, the shop was located in Quechee at Waterman Place. I am continually reminded of the good times had by the many people from all over New England who bring in clocks bought from Nancy which need re-oiling after the many years of reliable operation that a properly cleaned and restored Antique Clock can bring.

Now, with the availability of the Internet, I have expanded my Repair & Restoration business to again include the Sales and Purchase of Antique Clocks. Point your browser to the webpage CLOCKS FOR SALE, there you will find hundreds of completely restored Antique Clocks for sale. Yes, A large list of clocks, but easily viewable as I have split the selections into four main types of Antique clocks:

1. Wall Clocks (no strike)
2. Wall Clocks (with strike or chimes)
3. Shelf Clocks (no strike)
4. Shelf Clocks (with strike or Chimes)

You will also find for your convenience a SEARCH feature. Enter the keywords for a particular clockmaker or style and it brings up a list of available clocks that match your criteria.

Not only will you find this large and ever changing assortment of Antique Clocks for sale, but we also offer many modern reproduction clocks built by master craftsmen of only the highest standard, again, separated into categories for easy browsing. Names such as, Foster Campos, Wayne Cline, Elmer Stennes, Ted Burliegh, also some of the new re-issue clocks from the E. Howard Clock Co.

If it is Cuckoo Clocks that you are interested in, then you will find one of the largest assortments available at our website. I have a direct link to the Black Forrest and can provide you with any style of modern Cuckoo Clock now being made. Animated, musical, one-day, eight-day, wall and shelf models, Hunters, Bavarian Chalet, weight driven, quartz movements too. All hand carved of wood in many motifs of animals, woodlands, and people of the Black Forrest animated to move as the music and cuckoo bird pleasantly remind you of the passing hour.

I am one of the few clock dealers who also carry a line of clocks by the respected German Clock Co. Hermle!

Hermle produce an extensive range of clocks including models with crystal domes, Westminster melodies, porcelain dials and hand-carved figurines. All powered by a wide range of HIGH-QUALITY mechanical 8-day movements, 14-day skeleton movements, quartz analog and digital. Hermle is one of the most respected names in the modern clock market. These well-built timepieces will be the 'antique clocks' of the future.

I am very grateful to have learned a trade that can preserve a part of the past, which is so often soon forgot or lost as we ever so quickly move on into the future!

As I am a home based business and have no retail shop, all contacts must be made in advance by email, or phone, so as to set up an appointment.
